With some big matches on the card, the main event should still steal the spotlight. Another Michaels-Jericho classic? Probably, but the rest of the show will be solid.
The WWE returns to Pay-Per-View this Sunday with No Mercy, live from the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. The main event will see Shawn Michaels take on Chris Jericho in a ladder match for the World Heavyweight Title. While that match should be the show stealer, the rest of the card looks solid as well. Let's take a look. Rey Mysterio vs KaneOne of the most confusing storylines of the year so far, Kane randomly attacked Mysterio off-screen, leading to this matchup of two veterans who probably deserve better. It has led to the impressive Evan Bourne getting more time on-screen, so that is a positive. The match should also be a positive, as Kane and Mysterio are two of the best. Just don't expect a classic. Beth Phoenix vs Candice Michelle (Women's Championship)It has been a long time since the wrestling world has seen a women's champions as talented as Beth Phoenix. She has that perfect combination of speed, power and presence. Candice Michelle had some momentum going when she suffered a broken clavicle in a match with Phoenix. Since then, she hasn't been the same, but she still has a lot of talent, making this match one of the better women's title matches this year. Big Show vs UndertakerTwo of wrestling's biggest stars will square off on Sunday, once again. The Big Show and the Undertaker have battled before, and while both men appear to be slowing down, they should be able to put together a decent contest. Taker can make his opponents look great at times, and you should expect that again. Batista vs JBLThe winner will be the number one contender for Chris Jericho's World Heavyweight Title. Batista is known for good performances on pay-per-view, and he'll need to carry JBL to a good one here. JBL is a good character, but since his return, the in-ring skills have diminished. Expect a short brawl in this one. Matt Hardy vs Mark Henry (ECW Championship)Current ECW Champion Matt Hardy has been given the ball to run with here and will look to prove his worth against the former champion, Henry. Once again, it is one of those situations where Hardy will look to carry Henry to a good match, but this one will be better than most will think. Look for Tony Atlas to get involved on Henry's behalf. Triple H vs Jeff Hardy (WWE Championship)Matt's brother Jeff will be facing an uphill battle against Triple H on Sunday. The chances of the 12-time champion giving up his belt are slim, but in any event, this match should be great. Both men have proven ability to work great matches in the past, and their recent chemistry has been evident. This has a chance to be a classic. Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels (World Championship Ladder Match)The match that Michaels made famous, the ladder match. This feud has been going on for a while now, and it has been the best thing on WWE TV in years. Jericho has really come into his own here, as has Michaels. These two have been tearing it up in matches for a while now, dating back to Wrestlemania 19 at Safeco Field. Look for this to be an absolute classic match, to end a classic feud.
